German and European IT companies use this forum, a completely new type of conference format for the German-speaking market, to introduce their innovative products and solutions in compact “nutshell” presentations.
Six-minute presentations on stage (without PowerPoint!) decide on the marketability of a product, the financing of additional growth strategies and the development of identified target groups and markets. If you are an employee or partner of a venture capital company, an editor from the IT or financial press or a potential cooperation or business partner for these “innovations”, a visit to the DEMO conference is an absolute must.
Who will be on stage in Munich?About two dozen companies from the IT industry and other technology sectors will be presenting their brand new products in Munich on October 16, 2007. Here is an overview of the individual product categories and the respective innovations in brief to give you some idea of the variety of the innovations being introduced at the DEMO. The list will be updated on an ongoing basis in the weeks to come.
A. Advanced Search
The audience in Munich will witness the launch of a novel, personalized search technology that automatically recognizes individualized relevancies based on the user's search behavior and uses this to continually update the search profile.
B. Community
An Internet platform for collaboratively designed, interactive content? This is what a presentation in the Community area promises at very least, with support of all digital formats. Users can publish their content on the web and make it available for further processing. In this way, users interact and work together on the uploaded material. Experience what this may look like and which technological innovation lies behind it at the DEMO.
Just take the success of the Flickr.com website: uploading, editing and re-using photos on the web has met with very much interest on the part of users. The presentation in Munich will introduce a process that enables you to localize photographs taken with a cell phone or digital camera by means of GPS. These can be grouped on the Internet to create, for example, personal travel guides.
C. Infrastructure
An innovation in the area of biometrics - the use of mathematical methods in biology and medicine - is promised by the presentation of a newly developed technology based on the dynamic electro-physiological characteristics of the body. Electro-physiological signals are emitted, for instance, by the heart and nervous system and comprise a great number of characteristics.
The motion picture industry - whether animation or classic film - could not function without the use of digital technology. Among other things, this technology makes it possible to create stereoscopic 3D versions. A presentation of a novel technology that enables interactive cinematographic recording using software and hardware awaits the attendees.
D. Mobile Applications
The program includes a presentation in the area of Mobile Applications involving the subject of data transfer from PC to cell phone. In addition to the transmission of image, music, video or text files, the novel application integrated in the web browser or e-mail client supports simultaneous transmission of SMS and MMS while you surf the web or write an e-mail.
A further DEMO innovation in the area of Mobile Applications is the presentation of a software that allows cell phone users to use mobile Voice-over IP connections free of charge and enables live chats via wireless networks.
The idea of a free, GPS-based navigation service for cell phones is similarly promising and has been chosen for presentation by the DEMO Advisory Board. This innovation brings together other leading providers in the areas of card materials, aerial photography and weather information in a new product.

It has long since acquired cult status and is notorious for its strict admissions policy – the “Germany’s hardest door to get past“.
